Sunday Sermon Summary: “Do What You Can, With What You Got!”

Praise Tabernacle International, Plantation, FL.

Guest Speaker: Pastor, John P. McGee

Today's sermon spoke how a little will go a long way!

The key verse were from John 6:8-13 (KJV):

8 One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, saith unto him,

9 There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many?

10 And Jesus said, Make the men sit down. Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand.

11 And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would.

12 When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost.

13 Therefore they gathered them together, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves, which remained over and above unto them that had eaten.

Pastor McGee speaks of an experience he had one day. He was on a lunch break from school, where it was accustom for Him to dine with his colleagues, but on this particular day, he had the urge to eat alone. For today's lunch he had two sardines, and five loaves of bread. He headed up towards a hill, and to his astonishment, he was not alone. There were 13 other men on the same hill that he was on. These men were Jesus, and His Twelve Disciples. He was so overtaken by what he was witnessing, that his appetite for lunch been placed on the back shelve.

Then he realized that there was the coming crowd, also on the hill.

The coming crowd:

  • Wanted what Jesus could offer

  • Pressed their way out for a divine manifestation

  • Just wanted to be in His presence, because a moment in Jesus’s presence can change ones’ whole life. His presence has it ALL!

Christ was concerned with their physical condition. He understood that the crowd needed to be nourished, as they have been walking a long journey with Him. Even though the crowd had no money to buy food, they acknowledged that the pursuit of Jesus was more important.

However, the people were hungry.

Jesus was still concerned about both the spiritual, and physical well being of the people. Jesus understood the importance of His spiritual anointing, and not only being seen as a “Glorified Magician,” acting only in His supernatural ways. Practical, and “practitionary” outreach ministry is needed! The context of their lives needed to be attended to (the people were hungry). Life application needs to occur. There has to be systems of ministry that continue, in order to keep individuals going AFTER the supernatural miracle has occurred. We must not be so “heavenly minded.” In other words, be not ONLY tied up in holy wonders of life. There has to be practical provision. All people should be reached in practical provision; the Haves, and Have-nots. Realize that THE FEAST IS FOR EVERYBODY. Jesus fed everyone!

Jesus asked Phillip where he could he get food, “When Jesus then lifted up his eyes, and saw a great company come unto him, he saith unto Philip, Whence shall we buy bread, that these may eat ”(John 6:5, KJV)? He asked to see where Phillip’s philosophy was.

Phillip Answered: “Philip answered him, Two hundred pennyworth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may take a little” (John 6:7, KJV).

Money does not meet needs.

GOD MEETS NEEDS!

Your purpose will never have enough money!

Pastor McGee goes on to say that Andrew told Jesus about his lunch, which caused Jesus to open His palm towards Pastor McGee, asking for it. He was fearful that he did not have enough to feed the crowd.

But the Bible says, “He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much” (Luke16:10, KJV).

What must be understood here was not the CONTEXT of Pastor McGee’s lunch bag, but the COMPOSITION in Jesus’s hands!

GOD is THEE SOURCE!

When you give it to GOD, it will go a long way!

  • Sovereign Selection-There is a miracle in Jesus, because He stuck His hands out for YOU! He did not have to use you, but he chooses to!

  • Strategically Celebrate -Stop calculating the “how,” and start rejoicing NOW!

  • GOD Will Multiply it!- The Disciples had more than enough to feed the crowd, that they had “filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves, which remained over and above unto them that had eaten” (John 6:13, KJV).

A little will go a LONGGG wayyy!!!

Life Application

What stuck with me was how money will never be enough for your purpose. The annointance on your life can never be equivalent to a specific amount of money. "And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God" (Matthew 19:24, KJV). You must trust in GOD to supply ALL! GOD is THEE SOURCE. This is how you build faith. With Him, ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE! Use what you ALREADY have, and He will take care of the rest! GOD has brought me through so much, more than what I have even been worthy of! He is ALWAYS ON TIME! I must continue to trust in Him for my life, and purpose! With Him on my side, as I keep His commandments, how can I EVER fail???

Selahhhhhh!!!!
